Night Two Preliminary and Special Award Winners of the 2021 Miss Utah Scholarship Competition

Miss Wasatch County and Miss Weber County received preliminary awards during the second night of The Miss Utah Scholarship Competition held at the Covey Center for the Arts on June 11, 2021.

In addition, a special award was given to the candidate who raised the most funds for the Class of 2021 WHOlives fundraiser.

Talent Preliminary Winner

Miss Wasatch County, Maddalena Willis was the winner of the preliminary talent competition and will receive a $100 scholarship. Maddalena performed ballet en pointe to “Kitri Enters.” She is a sophomore at Utah Valley University studying fine arts.

Red Carpet Preliminary Winner

Miss Weber County, Abigail Laing was the winner of the preliminary red carpet competition and will receive a $100 scholarship. She is a graduate student at American Public/Military University studying intelligence studies.

ROOKIE PRELIMINARY WINNERS

TALENT

Miss Murray, Sarah Nelson was the winner of the preliminary talent rookie award and will receive a $100 scholarship. Sarah performed the piano solo, “Tarantella.” She is a graduate of Brigham Young University’s accounting program.

RED CARPET

Miss North Ogden, Gracie Kay Nichols was the winner of the preliminary red carpet rookie award and will receive a $100 scholarship. She is a freshman at Weber State University studying political science and broadcast journalism.

WHOlives Fundraising Award

Axuray Talbot

One of Dexonna Talbot’s service initiatives was a partnership with the non-profit WHOlives. Early on during her year of service, she traveled to Uganda to help the organization install wells. She challenged each candidate to raise $100 for a Class of 2021 well. Miss South Valley, Axuray Talbot was recognized for raising $5,067 for WHOlives.
