Inspirational People and Quotes that Keep Me Going

Having such a crazy busy life, it’s important to have positive ideas to turn to that remind you of who you are and to keep you positive! I really love inspirational books, quotes, and stories. Today I wanted to share a couple of my favorite quotes with you.

This quote from Elisabeth Kubler-Ross has so much meaning to me! I love to share it when I present and think about it often:

“People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.”

It fits so beautifully with my platform. With social media being such a large part of our lives, we often only see the picture-perfect images of people with the sun out. Remember that darkness always comes whether it’s just night time or if there are clouds in life. True light comes from within!

As I’m growing up and “adulting,” I often look back on my younger days and envy the simplicity and innocence of childhood. Everything is inspiring. There are no limits on what you can become. Christopher Robin inspired me from a very young age as Winnie the Pooh was one of my childhood loves.

“You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

Another childhood icon is the infamous Dr. Seuss,

“Today you are you, that’s truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you!”

Maybe it’s the made-up words/spelling that I’m partial to (valYOU) but he’s very clearly a genius.

Traveling all over the state and nation meeting so many new people sometimes make me feel a little lost. Whenever I feel like I am losing myself in another image, I think of this quote from Rumi. Each of our souls is strong and different. When we are grounded in our soul, we have the opportunity to be a pillar that people can lean on and look to.

Lastly, a quote from an unknown yet inspired individual:

“Work for a cause, not for applause.

Live life to express not to impress.

Don’t strive to make your presence noticed,

Just make your absence felt.”

While I loved this quote before I ever was in the Miss Utah Organization, I think it especially describes my approach to being Miss Utah. I hope that my cause is known and that I have stayed authentically me. I don’t want to be the center of attention of the room but to fill the room with love, understanding, and hope.

I’m always looking for new favorites and would love to see some of yours! Share your favorite quote with me today by using #findvalyou on social media.
