Meet your new Miss Utah 2017, JessiKate Riley! Crowned one month ago, JessiKate is already spreading word of her platform “Find ValYOU Within” across our state.
Today she joined us to share her struggle with an anxiety disorder called trichotillomania, of which she was diagnosed with at the age of 12. JessiKate’s coping mechanism for the social stress she was under caused her to pull her hair out. Now, after opening up about her own struggle, she is hoping to encourage others to find “ValYOU” within themselves and share what they deem valuable on social media using #findvalyou.
Since winning, she has been involved in several events in the community and has partnered with Brain Balance Utah. Some of those experiences include attending the Ute Stampede on a horse, and speaking at the Ivy Girl Academy Camp.
Nationally, JessiKate has attended and performed at Miss Washington, and recently returned from Miss America’s Outstanding Teen program in Orlando.
