SPANISH FORK, UT (NOV. 10, 2022) – Today the Miss Utah Scholarship Organization (MUSO) announced that Madison Wilson will serve as the organization’s new Executive Director.

Wilson has volunteered on the MUSO State Board as the Executive Secretary, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Liaison, Assistant Judges Chair for the Miss Utah Competition, and Producer for the Miss Utah’s Outstanding Teen Competition. She received over $10,000 in scholarships while competing in the program. Wilson used those scholarships to obtain a B.S. in Sociology from Brigham Young University and an M.A. in Communication, Technology, and Society from Clemson University.

Of the new position she said, “I am a product of the good that this organization provides. I am humbled and grateful for this opportunity to help give other women life-changing experiences like I had, and I look forward to furthering the Miss America Organization’s mission of ‘preparing great women for the world and preparing the world for great women’ in Utah through professional development and scholarship opportunities.”

Additionally, Whitney Thomas has been named Co-Executive Director. Since 2014, Thomas has volunteered on the MUSO State and Executive Boards as the Communications Director and Public Relations Chair. She holds a B.F.A. in Communications with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism from Brigham Young University and has spent the past decade building a career in public relations. Thomas served as Miss Utah 2009 and will always cherish the experiences that came from the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

The MUSO thanks Carly Condie for serving as Executive Director and Nicole Kielbasa for serving as Co-Executive Director since 2018. “We extend our sincere gratitude to Carly and Nicole for their decades of dedication to this organization. Their volunteerism has impacted hundreds of women around the state, and we appreciate how they navigated the organization through the transition to Miss America 2.0 and the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Wilson.

Wilson and Thomas will lead the scholarship organization towards the 88th Miss Utah Scholarship Competition taking place June 2023 in Salt Lake City. As one of the largest scholarship providers for women in Utah, the MUSO is projected to award over $150,000 in scholarship funds statewide in 2023.
