Miss Utah County, Miss Timpanogos, and Miss Zion received preliminary awards during the first night of the Miss Utah Scholarship Competition held at the Eccles Theater on June 12, 2019. The Soles4Souls shoe drive winners and highest ad page sales winner were also announced.
Talent Preliminary Winners
Miss Utah County, Anna Sun and Miss Timpanogos, Hannah Sterling tied in the preliminary talent competition. They will both receive a $100 scholarship.
Anna Sun
Miss Utah County, Anna Sun performed “Paganini Etude No. 6” by Franz Liszt on the piano. She was a soloist with the Orchestra of Southern Utah as a winner of the Halversen Young Artist Competition. She is a masters student at the University of Utah and holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Denver.
Hannah Sterling
Evening Wear/Social Impact Statement Winner
Miss Zion, Abigail Laing received the evening wear preliminary award and will receive a $100 scholarship. She’s a student at Western Governors University studying elementary education. Her social impact initiative is “The Gift of Life–Pass it On.”
Soles4Souls Shoe Drive Winners
Miss Cache Valley, Samantha Bell, and Miss Pleasant Grove, Taryn Christensen were recognized for raising the most pairs of shoes for the non-profit Soles4Souls. They will each receive a humanitarian trip with the organization.
Highest Ad Page Sales
Miss Pleasant Grove, Taryn Christensen, was also recognized for selling the most ad pages for the official Miss Utah Competition Program Book.
