Today the Miss Utah Organization is pleased to announce their partnership with Soles4Souls, a global non-profit that fights poverty through the collection and distribution of used shoes and clothing.
As part of this union, each contestant competing for the title of Miss Utah 2018, is encouraged to gather 1,000 pairs of shoes from their reigning cities and counties. The shoes are then sold to entrepreneurs running microenterprises in low poverty countries. (Watch the video below to learn how the process works from start to finish.)
During the preliminary competition of the 2018 Miss Utah Pageant, the winner of the shoe donation drive will be recognized on stage and receive a humanitarian trip with Soles4Souls.
Last year, the Miss Utah Class of 2017 raised over 80,000 pairs of shoes in the annual Miss Utah shoe drive.
