On Saturday, August 26, 2017, Miss Utah, JessiKate Riley, performed a stirring arrangement of the National Anthem at the first football game of the season for Brigham Young University’s football team.
Riley is a senior at BYU in the Violin Performance program. She plans on becoming a studio recording artist following her graduation.
This was the first time in 30 years that a BYU game had a live performance of the National Anthem. The BYU student band typically plays the anthem while the audience sings along. Since the semester hadn’t begun, the band wasn’t able to play. This was a unique opportunity for JessiKate and one she’ll never forget.
