Miss Northern Utah County, Lauren Wilson Crowned Miss Utah 2016
SALT LAKE CITY — June 18, 2016 — Miss Northern Utah County, Lauren Wilson was crowned Miss Utah 2016 tonight at Capitol Theatre in Salt Lake City.
Over the next year, Lauren will travel several thousand miles each month performing, speaking to audiences about her platform, “With Help Comes Hope: Suicide Awareness and Prevention,” and serving as a state ambassador for the Children’s Miracle Network. Lauren will also compete in The Miss America Pageant on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
As a graduate of Utah Valley University in behavioral science with an emphasis on psychology, Lauren hopes to one day become a forensic psychologist. Along with the title of Miss Utah 2016, Lauren received a $10,000 scholarship, a new car to drive throughout her year from Murdock Hyundai and more. For the talent portion of the competition, Lauren danced to “Libertango.” Earlier in the week, she was recognized as the winner of the Utah Valley University Leadership Scholarship for her platform efforts.
2016 Miss Utah Royalty
- First runner-up: Miss Orem, Jesse Craig, who earned a $3,000 scholarship, as well as a preliminary award for talent and a $100 scholarship on Wednesday evening, the Miss America serves award Friday evening and the Miracle Maker award tonight;
- Second runner-up: Miss Heart of Utah, JessiKate Riley, who earned a $1,500 scholarship, as well as a preliminary award for talent and a $100 scholarship on Friday evening;
- Third runner-up: Miss Springville/Mapleton, Madison Monson, who earned an $800 scholarship;
- Fourth runner-up: Miss Roy, D’Mia Lamar, who earned a $600 scholarship.
Semi-Finalists
The additional eight semi-finalists rounding out the top twelve and each earning a $600 scholarship were Caitlin Woods, Miss Timpanogos (also winner of People’s Choice); Nicole Montgomery,Miss Murray; Alix Dritlein, Miss Weber County; Victoria Phillips, Miss Farmington; Briana Garrido, Miss Eastern Utah; Madison Monson, Miss Springville/Mapleton; Miss Utah County, Lizzy Palmatier; and Brynn Christensen, Miss Nebo.
