Miss Nebo and Miss Utah Valley received preliminary awards for the highest scores in the Lifestyle and Fitness in Swimsuit and Talent competitions during the first night of The Miss Utah 2018 Scholarship Pageant.
Lifestyle and Fitness in Swimsuit Preliminary Winner
Miss Nebo, Alexa Knutzen, was the preliminary Lifestyle and Fitness in Swimsuit winner. She received a $100 scholarship for her award. Alexa is studying ballet and journalism at the University of Utah. Her platform is called, “Yes You Can: Helping Special Needs Children and Adults Through the Arts.”
Talent Preliminary Winner
Miss Utah Valley, Tanesha Bland, was the preliminary Talent winner for her lyrical dance performance of, “Don’t Worry About Me.” She received a $100 scholarship for her award. Tanesha is a junior at Utah Valley University majoring in nursing. Her platform issue is called, “Use Your Head, Wear a Helmet.”
Local Pageant Miracle Maker Award
The Miss Greater Salt Lake/Deseret/Timpanogos Pageant was recognized for raising the most funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. They received a trophy and 2 tickets to Saturday morning’s farewell breakfast with Miss Utah 2017, JessiKate Riley.
Highest Ad Page Sales
Miss Cache Valley, Emily Robinson, was recognized for selling five full pages of ads for the official Miss Utah 2018 Program Book. The contestants are encouraged to sell one full page to showcase their ability to market themselves in the community.
